How ‘Passive’ Is Passive Income?
Dear Josephine, I LOVE the idea of passive income. I mean, who doesn’t - money for zero effort. Yes please.
Buuuut I’m not a mug. I know passive income requires effort - so my question is… how ‘passive’ is passive income?
Dear ‘how passive is passive income?’
This is such a good question, because a lot of content online would have us believe that you truly can stick up an automated email sequence and get sales rolling in on the daily.
Soon you’ll be hearing your sales notifications ping minute by minute as you swing in the warm breeze of your Bali hammock. 🍹
But like you say… you’re not a mug. You know to be suspicious of those lofty promises.
First up, here’s my definition of passive income:
Money made from sales of a product you’ve created once and can sell over and over again - with no additional work needed to deliver the product.
That means delivering the product is passive.
BUT selling the product is NOT passive. 🚫
So what if we called ‘Passive income’ ‘Scalable income’ or ‘Recurring revenue’ - that would probably be a better way to describe it.
Plus, side note, you can drive recurring revenue or scalable income for an offer that’s not 100% ‘passive’.
Say you have a course where you have a monthly call.
Or a scalable group program where you have a community space.
Or a membership where you show up and engage in the community on the reg.
These offers can still be used to drive SCALABLE income. 📈
So, let’s call it scalable income and look at what ingredients you need to drive it.
1 📈 YOUR SCALABLE OFFER
You need an offer that’s proven.
That means it’s driven more than 10 sales
AND it delivers 5* results for your audience.
This is the number 1 essential ingredient you need before building a sales funnel or switching on any ads.
2 🌪️ YOUR SALES FUNNEL
You need an automated sales funnel that delivers a great lead magnet and builds that essential know like and trust factor with your audience… to ultimately deliver… sales.
